Cell phones....
Today I drove for 4 miles (my odometer) behind a woman in a large SUV who talked on the cell the entire time. Phone in left hand and she was making small gestures with her right hand. I think she was steering with her navel. All this on a very busy 4 lane suburban road... 45 mph. She weaved a bit, too.

I lost her when she entered a freeway!

Driving while celling is illegal in our state.

Is there any device on the market that I could get that will interfere with cell signal? You know, like those little remotes you can get to turn off any TV that's playing FUX.

(Don't bother to tell me it could be an emergency phone call. My safety trumps her emergency phone call.)

1. NO - pick up your own cell phone and dial 911 to report her.
You aren't empowered by anyone to jam cell phone transmissions so stop trying to play God.

12. I consider it the same as 'tattling' on drunk drivers.
it's a fricken hazard and if I have loved ones out on the road with these assholes I will dial (on my cell but parked)

13. You Should Call the Local Precinct.
911 is for actual emergencies, not hypothetical emergencies.

2. "Oh but ah must be ENTERTAINED while ah drive!!!"
Heaven forbid these dipshits go for 5 fucking minutes without being entertained! Or flapping their yaps! I think that's why I have such an aversion to cell phones, because they're such a nuisance in the hands of other people.

4. I followed a woman texting today...
And I took out my cell phone, and pointed it at her like I was taking a picture of her... then I got behind her and pretended to take a picture of her license plate... she took off like a bat out of hell... I probably won't do that again... but I'm thinking of starting a list of license plate numbers... with dates, times, and freeway info.

6. cellphone frequencies are privately owned.
They are owned by the carriers. unlike for example wifi which is open or publicly owned.

Any entity broadcasting on a licensed frequency without a license is in violation of whole bunch of laws.... unfortunately.
Some businesses tried to user jammers a while back (people on cellphone in drive through slow down progress which means more labor costs for example) and the carriers sued.

The frequency she was yapping on is owned by the carrier and only the carrier and those they authorize can broadcast on that frequency.

7. Our jails can't get cell phone jammers in prisons cuz the jammers are illegal even there.
Even as miscreants are running ongoing criminal enterprises and ordering up murders with contraband cell phones in prisons.

10. Now that is isnane.
Licenses should be changed to allow govt to prohibit use in certain areas for security reasons (like a prison).

Given that most prisons are located away from urban centers the effect of any jamming "spill" past the perimeter of the prison on the law abiding would be minimal.

14. The Maryland governor and the congressional delegation have been working n this for a while.
We had a gang kingpin in one of our slammers who famously ordered a hit from prison on one of his collection of illegal cell phones. They have been trying to get the law changed for a long time.

8. Is there a special line for reporting aggressive drivers?
There is in Colorado, and if so, I'd be willing to bet they'd take the report.

9. Several posters have suggested...
calling somebody to report someone using a cellphone while driving.

Hmmmm... should I pull over first?

Sorry that jammers are illegal. Didn't know.
