Why is everyone so obsessed with the Virginia Tech shooting?

For God's sake, the shooting in Virginia is NOT the most pressing issue we face today.

THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE IS UNDER ATTACK!!!!!

I don't care if people died in the shooting. There is a far greater threat to our nation than a gunman (or possibly two) killing nearly three dozen people... and that threat is that of a man loving another man, or a woman loving another woman. Until you people understand that, our nation is in grave peril.
