Should the Senate be changed to represent regional interests, rather than states?
It really pisses me off to see the Senators of rural, sparsely populated states, like Max Baucus and Ben Nelson, hold the rest of the nation hostage, essentially.

Who here would be in favor of redesigning the Senate to represent regional interests of equal population? For example, a Great Plains region of 40 million people would be equivalent to California in representation.

Not that this would ever happen, but just food for thought. Or, there's the option of abolishing the Senate entirely.

2. I have no problem with abolishing the Senate.
We really don't need a House of Lords in this country.

3. It might work to gradually reduce the power of the Senate.
Make it like the UK's House of Lords in that it can no longer reject bills from the House of Commons, only delay them. If we push hard enough, the Senate can be reduced to a ceremonial chamber, while all the real action in legislating happens in the House.

4. Yeah, that's what I'd like to see --
the House making the laws. Maybe the Senate could just confirm Supreme Court nominees and things like that, although the House could do that just as well.
