Republican shoots target with Fla. Dem's initials

MIAMI — A South Florida Republican said it was a mistake to shoot at a target with the initials of the Democratic congresswoman he is
trying to unseat.

Candidate Robert Lowry made a brief statement to a local newspaper but refused to speak further Friday about the incident,
which happened Tuesday during a weekly GOP meeting held at a gun range.

Lowry declined to comment to The Associated Press. He initially told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that shooting at a target with the letters "
DWS" — a not-so-veiled reference to Democratic U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz — was a "joke," but then said it "was a mistake."

The congresswoman declined to comment. A spokesman, Jonathan Beeton, said "We didn't feel that behavior dignified a response."

The gun toting, militia, knuckle dragging, Neanderthal movement that openly advocates overthrowing the US government by force.

6. Interesting.....

What I find interesting is that when he is called out about it he hides behind his spokesperson and does not talk about it. If he did get elected he would do the same thing and avoid all taking responsibility for his actions. I think it might be time to get rid of all spokespeople and let them all talk for themselves so we could make them stand behind their words and not behind someone else.

8. It was the democrats fault; "they're not being very sensitive to our rights."
Organizer Ed Napolitano defended the gathering, as well as the use of targets that appeared to be gunmen with traditional Arab head scarves.
"That's our right," said Napolitano, president of the Southeast Broward Republican Club. "If we want to shoot at targets that look like that, we're
going to go ahead and do that."

snip

Many of the targets were basic silhouettes, though others were figures wearing traditional Arab head scarves, called kaffiyeh, and holding rocket-propelled grenades.
Napolitano said the faces of those figures appeared to be white, though he understood why they would be assumed to be Arabs. He said critics of the event are simply
angry that a Republican minority continues to exist in such an overwhelmingly Democratic area.

"I absolutely have no regrets. I don't care what the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee or any of them say — I know that they're offended by the simple fact
that we're here and we won't go away and we won't be quiet," he said. "For the Democrats, who are supposed to be the party of minority rights, they're not being very
sensitive to our rights."

*******

How in the world can they take this vile act and blame others for it?

9. I am part of a gun owning family and I would like to take this opportunity
to tell these asshats and extremists that the fastest way to lose our gun rights is to incite the murder of some politician. What kind of idiots are you dumb ass? In my family we are responsible gun owners and we teach our children that guns are never to be used against a person and that there are safe ways to use them in hunting. What we are seeing this year at pug meetings and in the assassinations of doctors etc and in the teabaggers actions is insane. Stop this idiocy now.

11. Aren't his actions considered a personal threat and therefore a police matter?
I'm not sure how that works, but it seems to me that if I deliberately aimed and fired a weapon at a target that I had told others had the initials of an (enemy), that it could be construed as a terroristic threat and therefore a matter worth police investigation. But, then again, I'm not an expert at criminal justice. Just sayin'.

13. A typical Republican response:
If you can't win on the merits of your argument, assassinate or suggest the idea by your actions and hope one of your wing-nut followers will do it for you. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. Republicans have revealed themselves to be traitors to this nation, and they should be dealt with as such.
