I was SkeptiCal but I realized people thought I was from California... so I changed.

The original nick is still listed and I now know a password for it, so if I disgrace this one, I'll use that one.

7. I have no idea. I was on for a little while in 2000-2001, then left when Bush took office.

When I came back, I couldn't get logged on, and had forgotten my name, so that is how I came to be kestrel.

My participation was mainly in the form of angry rants or setting the record straight. Election '08 changed that. I just want to leave the past behind and I'm also mature enough now to know that you can't really change peoples' minds on most issues (at least not online).

Back when I posted a lot - a lot of folks initially assumed I was male. No idea how a gender neutral name could so frequently lead to gender decisions (per folks deciding my gender... and incorrectly at that.)
