(CBS/AP) The gunman suspected of carrying out the Virginia Tech massacre that left 33 people dead was identified Tuesday as an English major whose creative writing was so disturbing that he was referred to the school's counseling service.

But, police and university officials offered no clues as to exactly what set off Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old senior, on the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history.

"He was a loner, and we're having difficulty finding information about him," school spokesman Larry Hincker said.


Loners are evil, loner's aren't right, so let's scapegoat them all by sheer might. x(

What the fuck is wrong with people? Introverts and loners are two different things and neither is "loner" equated with "evil psycho who likes to get off by killing others then himself."

Which I think everyone agrees is not synonymous with "loner," but someone who was revealing very dark thoughts in his own writing.

It's also unsurprizing and not at all sinister that someone who is not well known by the members of his own community would be identified as such.
