UPDATE:
Bogus NY Post Hit Piece on Corzine

Shih told police he worked for Corzine's campaign, and had several campaign-related items in his car, police said.

Corzine spokeswoman Elisabeth Smith said Shih is not on the payroll of the campaign or the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, and that the campaign doesn't know who he is.

A man who identified himself as an official with New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine's re-election campaign was arrested last night after cops found found ecstasy tablets wrapped and ready to be sold in his car, police said.

Jason Shih, 25, was pulled over by East Rutherford cops at about 11:30 p.m. last night because he was talking on his cell phone on Route 17, said Lt. Chris Conforti of the East Rutherford police.

Officers wound up finding 19 "blue star" ecstasy tablets in Shih's car, each wrapped in its own little plastic bag.

Shih -- who was stopped within 100 feet of Becton Regional High School -- also had had "several hundred" empty plastic bags in his car, Conforti said.

2. This wasn't needed 3 days before the election
it's so close in NJ that even something that Corzine had absolutely no involvement in could make a difference.

5. Not really
This seems to have been a routine police stop because he was speaking on a hand held cellphone. This has been illegal in NJ for years. It is also a very built up part of the state and traffic can be bad - he should have had an earpiece if he needed to be on the phone.

Congressional Ethics Committee were leaked for the first time I can remember, Brown's campaign guy hit the news for recording conversations with reporters in possible violation of California law and a fake hit piece on Corzine hit The Post.

All just coincidental, or is something coordinated going on? I am not usually a conspiracy theorist, but it's been a heck of a week for politics.

BTW, going on how the alleged perp identified himself, without trying to confirm with Corzine's office, this close to election day ought o be criminal. If the Post did that, it is a bigger POS than I would have guessed.

On edit: Notice how Corzine's photo accompanies the story, but not that of the alleged perp? I noticed the same thing when the story about Brown's campaign guy was posted. Photo of Brown, none of his campaign guy. Hmmmm.
