I'm not posting this to argue with it being locked so much as to lament that the fact that it was a subtle commentary on the "fuck _____" threads that have appeared in response to yesterday's election, and it didn't come through like I thought it would. I actually did intend it to have a political meaning, but that wasn't clear.

But seriously, what effect do you think railing on people is going to have? You may feel that you should just because your instincts tell you to, but those instincts are more useful for things like keeping other cave dwellers from stealing your food or stabbing you with sticks. That kind of instinct just isn't there to deal with something as complicated as subtly manipulating people to side with you, or at least perform an action from which you benefit. It's the difference between picking a lock and banging on the door with a hammer until someone finds you out and retaliates.

the poster and perhaps a few readers - it's not about convincing people. Sometimes, banging shit with hammers is fun, and if you weren't such a total fuck-ass you would know that. (That made me smile, see how it works?)

6. If I had seen it, I would have noted the sarcasm.
But not everyone would get it, so I guess that's what the smilie is for.
