activists followed them around with brooms and swept the sidewalks everywhere they walked, symbolically cleaning their hate from the town. In was a remarkably powerful gesture.

They will never come here. I think they did for Harvey Milk's memorial. They didn't last long.

They are like ants at a picnic or wasps at a wedding. Their whole point is to be annoying. Do ants showing up at a picnic make people like ants more? Do wasps showing up at a wdding make people want to bring home a few hives?

They are annoying, hateful and distracting but I doubt they have ever won anyone over to their side. If anything, they've probably lost a few people who might have suspported their cause.

and wore hard hats, safety vests, the whole bit. and we did the sweep and clean afterwards, much to the amusement of the local media.
