America's problem is that we've let corporations take precedence over people
Edited on Sun Nov-08-09 03:22 PM by MrScorpio
Unfortunately, even a lot Democrats are wont to show this preference as well.

Somehow, the leaders who are supposed to look out for the people feel, that by saving the corporations, that's the best way to help the people who are suffering.

Is this an honestly misplaced philosophy, or is it intentional? Either way, it's what they were taught. I'm not going to elaborate on why the educational system promotes this. I'm sure that you have your own ideas.

But, why do the corporations have to get their pound of flesh when politicians claim that they're working on the people's behalf? Why are we an economic and military empire, hell bent on branding the world with our corporate labels? Why is it so necessary to replace the natural things of life with those that are held under patent? Why so much groupthink?

Because the corporations own our souls, of course.

I hate it when the people who say that they're protecting our freedoms are the first ones to sell us out to the corporations and to the government bureaucracy that protects those corporations and also the mindset that demands quiet subservience to it all.

You ask why is it so hard for the politicians to stand up for us? Well, I do. But, come on. We all know the answer... It's the Faustian pact that politicians make in order to step into the attractive enclave of the status quo.

Those who are brainwashed by their own piety are satisfied to know that they've been given permission to impose their own idealism on the masses. And others find out the hard way that they have to trade their principles in order to play the game. The status quo makes sure that, whatever their ideals, beliefs, promises and original honest intentions, there are rules to be obeyed.

The status quo holds the leaders' feet to the fire and the people that they're supposed to be serving are too timid and afraid to fight the fear in order to force to leaders to do right. Which is to bravely stand up to the corporations and for the good of all the people. So many people find comfort in the myths and the jingoism and the deception of the wily, silvery fork tongue snakes, who lie and deceive just to pad their own pockets. The waves can turn on a dime at any time.

Just call it intimidation and very few of the politicians are up to the task.

And the anger, it's misplaced, don't you think? Too many people are angry at the people who are working for them and against the corporations. It's quite frustrating for those who are standing up for the people. Of course, the folks on top are quite happy with that situation.

Down on the ground, foolish lovers of ATLAS SHRUGGED are siding with their corporate masters instead of the victims of the corporations. I guess they think they they'll earn a piece of the pie.

The crime is the way we've allowed to the corporations to act like rowdy, undisciplined children. Never spanking them when they've done wrong. Sitting and laughing at the pile of poop they've laid. Thinking that rewarding their bad behavior will make things better. We're so very generous with our mercy and, the funny this is, that they have no mercy on us.

I know that we're going to have some defeats. But we're going to have some victories too. And, let's face it, in a country where corporations take precedence over people, our victories are going to have a hard time living up to their potential.

All we have to ask is, are we going to fall all over ourselves in a pitiful pile of disappointment and self recrimination?

Or are we going to take up the banner to keep on fighting the endless, (yes, endless) war to make the bad things good and the good things better?

That's all I have to say. Enjoy your Sunday.

5. The system's been turned into an AUCTION, and corps (& the rich) will always be the highest bidder..
We need stories like THIS coming out of Washington: "Even though they've given politician X y-millions of dollars, it didn't stop him from voting against their interests when it conflicted with the interests of the general public...

The problem is that at the voting booth, we're not given that many Graysons to vote for...

7. Corruption is a simple process
and the system is corrupt. Corporate America, besides not possessing any civic principles, is not "good" capitalism either but no one does a lot of thinking about the guy in charge of one's payroll and career.
Actually producing anything or serving the society gets in the way of control over fantasy profit. The consumer is the enemy. The democratic voter is a monster to fear. Corruption makes this a ruling "vision".
