Historically conservative political/social movements in America culminate in violence and sweeping action by the government and courts to squash the growing dangerous unrest.

Teabaggers are drawing on the same feelings that drove the hatred and division throughout our history. The facts are pretty clear...every single conservative political movement ends in failure and is seen poorly in history.

The teabaggers will not be any different. They actually encompass a broad range of ignorance and hatred and once somewhat normal people realize how dangerous these nutjobs are the faster they will separate themselves from it.

As we approach the election the rhetoric will build and so will the actions. Those committing actual crimes of violence will be tied to the Teabaggers and that will be the end of it. The result will be abject failure of the conservative right and the influence they have on American politics.

I understand now why the media keeps giving them as much time as they get. It is freak show trainwreck worthy of Spike and G4 Cable TV. In a matter of weeks this group will self destruct as more and more radical ideas come to the fore.

In the end...clearer heads will prevail. I am pretty confident about that.

hope so, I hope so. Yes, I have exactly the similar feelings I had in the 60's. I thought then we were getting past the right wing nonsense, but it's like a haunt reappearing from the past. This teabagger pack is so un-american, unpatriotic, just about all that is evil wrapped into one grotesque ugly package. I'm amazed by the acceptance and frankly embracing of these fools by the republicans in power, but than again, I guess they are all cut really from the same piece of cloth.

Someone in another thread actually pondered why Democrats can't be like rushpublicans. Yep, they don't have ideas, but they sure walk in lock-step...all to protect the status quo and the 30 plus years of their beloved "Raygun Revolution" that created most of the economic messes this Administration is just beginning to reverse.

5. The Saving Grace...

...his vote didn't matter. I was far more concerned with how my representative voted...as she was still on the fence as of Friday and voted yes on Saturday. The phone calls and meeting with her seems to have paid off.

8. I Also Called Foster's Office Saturday...

I met Bill at Yearly Kos when it was at the McCormick Inn ('07)...a truly brilliant man and a "true" progressive (if I dare to use that term in the midst of the purity shitstorm surrounding us...LOL). I was glad he stood up. I was more concerned with Bean as she gets a nice clump of cash from Abbott Labs and several insurance companies. It also felt good seeing Debbie Halverson as the vote in that district rather than Weller. Now let's hope Kirk gets Teabagged in the primaries...or really wounded; opening up that seat for Dan Seals and then target Roskum.

Yep...saw posts about Junior Hastert getting a lot of RCCC "love". They think they own that district. I lived in DeKalb with Railsback and then John Grotberg. I used to interview Grotberg all the time...he died and Gym Teach stopped doing any interviews except around election time.

Keep fighting the good fight...help and us Chicago-area Democrats are moving further west. When I first came to the NW burbs, it was crimson red (Phil "hick" Crane)...now it's fully blue...from President to dog catcher...even state rep.
