This year's hot toy: The Zhu Zhu (electronic hamster)
Edited on Wed Nov-11-09 11:34 PM by Liberal_in_LA
how many of you bought the Tickle Me Elmo or Teddy Ruxpin for your kids? How long did they play with these devices? They seem a little boring to me. No imagination is involved like there is with legos and blocks. Now they have this Zhu Zhu. What play is involved?

This year’s hot toy: The Zhu Zhu

Last Update: 11/09 6:17 pm

It seems to be the hot toy this holiday season, the “Zhu Zhu.” It's an electronic hamster that looks just like the real thing, except there's not mess to clean up after.

They are critters that don't stay still, and they don't stay on the shelves.

Today was the first day Target in Fayetteville got the Zhu Zhu Pets in stock over the past two weeks. They were gone 20 minutes after opening.

3. A Roomba is like having a toddler. That's how I describe it.

2. Mindflex too
can't get it anywhere on line without a 100% mark up. Target had it for $59 and it's gone. TRU had it for $59 and none to be found. None to be had anywhere around here, Kmart, Sears, Barnes and Noble, Kay Bee toys, NONE NONE NONE. I checked e-bay and Amazon...both have them for $120! Yeah shipping is free, but the aggravation of knowing it's such a rip off stops me from any attempt at funding that type of greed.

I have a kid asking for zhu zhu. Not available on line either?

4. I got my daughter one for her birthday.
they're kind of funny. You can make 'em run the hamster wheel and they'll roll out when they're done.

After one day, my daughter got the wheels caught in her hair & i had to cut it out. I think we'll be reading about more incidents like that after x-mas.

I really did try to see the charm, but kept thinking it acted pretty much like a furry car. Maybe it getting stuck all the time in the tunnels is something that turned me off but give it a year and who knows what is possible.

10. these look like a lame version of Hot Wheels with a furry covering.
that i have to repeatedly "fetch" my stuck hamster so that it does something else is quite pathetic. and if your kids are so allergic that they cannot have real pets, get them a plush doll and let them play pretend.

even Teddy Ruxpin, the story telling bear, looks more entertaining than this. at least that one told stories while still being a plush doll. this just looks like a dysfunctional roomba covered by a giant dust bunny.
