1. Yowza. Anderson Cooper is struggling bigtime.
How long can CNN tolerate pulling a measly 600k in the 8:00 slot?

3. Looks like Prime Time Numbers only
Ed at 6pm Eastern doesn't meet that category. Usually starts at 8pm, but I think it can start as early as 7pm.

6. from the huffingtonpost article........
"The Rachel Maddow Show" averaged 996,000 total viewers (Maddow began the program in September 2008, so a comparison for the quarter would be inaccurate; compared to September 2008, though, Maddow's September 2009 total viewer average is down 40%). D*mn, I'm hoping the faux numbers are just from people watching for a good laugh.......and what's up with Greta??? Wow she's sure come out swinging lately........

12. Comparing apples to oranges...
NCIS is not "news" or political commentary. Nor is Spongebob or any other show that may do much better than shows on Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc.

The truth, whether we want to accept it or not, is that Fox basically gets higher ratings in PrimeTime than all the other "news" outlets combined to include CNN, HLN, and MSNBC.

Even though only 2-4 million watch at any given time, which really is a small % of the population, Fox is succeeding in having a disproportionate influence on politics and policy simply because they are on 24/7 and are the loudest voices with a massive audience compared to their competitors.

If the audience for Fox continues to grow, and programming on CNN and MSNBC continues to stagnate or even just grow a far less rapid rate, you are eventually going to see CNN and perhaps one day even MSNBC decide it is worth programming right wing shows to compete for Fox's outsized audience. The danger is we could wind up with multiple far right "news" channels instead of Fox News.

People on the left really just have to tune in more to boost MSNBC's numbers in PrimeTime to make networks focus more seriously on the progressive audience.
