How are you with geography? Quiz games inside...
A few days ago I set myself the goal of learning all the countries and capitals of the world. To do this I hunted down a few programs and flash apps to help me learn. I'm now at about 95% for the whole world, except the city sates and island nations. Those little fuckers are hard to remember. I'm finding this a really fun project, it really helps to bring history and international news into sharper focus. You can read about the Sudan and it's history of conflicts with neighbouring nations and say, Hay neat I actually have a feel for where those places are! Anyway here are the flash quizes and apps. See how good you are:

http://www.ilike2learn.com/ilike2learn/geography.asp - Flash quizes broken down by continent
http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/Geography.htm - More flash quizes (these ones are broken down by difficulty as well)
http://www.wartoft.nu/software/seterra/ - Great freeware app for learning world geography

As specific examples try these 2 out:

http://www.ilike2learn.com/ilike2learn/Europe.html
http://www.ilike2learn.com/ilike2learn/africa.html

What scores can you get on these? It's fun to see yourself improving! With Africa I started out with something like 30% or less, I can now get 100% fairly reliably.

I recommend using Setarra above to actually learn this stuff as it helps you along more.

I guess the next thing will be the 50 US states, I suck at that ;) Then all the world capitals.

5. This was the standard geography quiz in ninth grade
in Mexico.

Along with knowing the names of all the major rivers in the world,

the major mountain ranges in the world,

the states and capitals of every state in the Mexican republic,

And the names of all the counties in your native state...

Where is the challenge?

11. By age 13, I had to know that Ottawa is the capital of Canada
And Moscow is the capital of Russia,

but Kiev is the capital of Ukraine, a state in the Soviet Union, not a part of Russia...

I haven't studied any of the capitals yet so I don't know most of them but Since they give you the country it's fairly easy to guess.
