In a new twist on conservatives trying to warp the Bible

http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-national/20091203/US.REL.Conservative.Bible/

"CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Gospel of Luke records that, as he was dying on the cross, Jesus showed his boundless mercy by praying for his killers this way: "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."

Not so fast, say contributors to the Conservative Bible Project.

The project, an online effort to create a Bible suitable for contemporary conservative sensibilities, claims Jesus' quote is a disputed addition abetted by liberal biblical scholars, even if it appears in some form in almost every translation of the Bible.

The project's authors argue that contemporary scholars have inserted liberal views and ahistorical passages into the Bible, turning Jesus into little more than a well-meaning social worker with a store of watered-down platitudes."

So get that folks, Jesus never said anything about forgiving the Romans who executed him . . . I'm sure they'll argue that he actually meant to say "hand me a rock" instead of "let him who is without sin cast the first stone" next.

Imagine how many time this has been done with all religious texts down through the centuries. I don't know how anyone can believe a single word put to print in that book.

4. ET Awful

Think they forgot, or dosen't read the last word in the revelation, the warning about shanging anything in this book.. That is a warning that have been there for more than 2000 year now, and now they want to change it, to make it more in wiew with their own belife?.. I would really warn about that..

I am not sure what they want to do, with changing the meaning of forgivness, even on the Cross where you was sure to die a aganoging death by strangelation.. And by loosing to mutch blood.. It was used as a terrible way of exceute peopole, and also to show what it meant to be in the way of the romans... Jesus was not the first to end this way, but he was maybe one of the most known of them..

6. For all we know he DID say "Fuck 'em!" It's not like anybody was THERE to transcribe it.
It's not like JESUS likely existed either. Wayne Flowers made Madame say whatever he wanted, and both liberals and conservatives can make Jesus say whatever they want. That's the real beauty of Jesus. He's the puppet that can also be used as either a bludgeon or a dildo.
