This is a wonderful Christmas
Edited on Fri Dec-25-09 11:49 AM by yodoobo
We have in the Whitehouse, the greatest leader in a generation.

We have the House and Senate.

The Republicans are beaten and on the run.

We FINALLY have a healthcare plan that has been promised for decades, but only became reality yesterday.

Millions will now finally have the healthcare they deserve.

2009 was a wonderful improvement, but 2010 will be the best year in a decade for most all of us.

Thank you Obama. You delivered and we all owe you our deepest gratitude.

(note If you are going to complain, whine or argue, please start a different thread. This thread is for giving thanks)

4. Ah yes, giving thanks,
Giving thanks that Obama keeps the war machine going,

Giving thanks that the middle class will be decimated by this health care bill,

Giving thanks that the price for this healthcare "reform" is throwing women's rights under the bus, joining the LGBT community and the left.

Giving thanks that the dime's worth of difference is looking more like just a couple of cents,

Giving thanks that we have bipartisan corporate ownership of our government,

Giving thanks indeed. Giving thanks that I live in a reality based world where I can see the truth plain before me and don't engage in hyperactive hyperbole that is based on nothing more than wishful thinking.

Merry Christmas.

6. giving thanks that millions are now to be, essentially, slaves of the insurance cartels.
giving thanks that war criminals are going unprosecuted.

giving thanks that the "fierce advocate" against DADT has done NOTHING about it.

giving thanks that millions have lost their homes, or are on the verge of losing them, and yet, with all the money given to the banks for mortgage readjustment--about 85,000 have been helped.

oh yeah, lots for which to be thankful.

frohe weihnachten.

11. sounds like hyperactive hyperbole to me
Edited on Fri Dec-25-09 01:03 PM by hfojvt
only in the negative direction

"Giving thanks that Obama keeps the war machine going," -- Well, we don't seem to be fighting much in Iraq any more. A mere 15 US casualties in Iraq this last Novermber and December. That's 100 less that December 2006.

"Giving thanks that the middle class will be decimated by this health care bill," -- pessimistic speculation. Not the same thing as truth.

"Giving thanks that the price for this healthcare "reform" is throwing women's rights under the bus, joining the LGBT community and the left." -- Again, pessimistic speculation because the bill changes nothing. Currently 70% of abortions are paid by private funds. That is, not covered by insurance or paid by government.

"Giving thanks that the dime's worth of difference is looking more like just a couple of cents," -- Again that is hyperbole. Apparently the Bush administration was not that bad, or you have forgotten it.

"Giving thanks that we have bipartisan corporate ownership of our government," -- Again, hyperbolic, although many here are firmly convinced that that's absolute truth. It may seem truer because the corporations control what the people think through the M$M, and thus a majority generally support the M#M conventional wisdom. Insofar as progressives have access to the M$M though, we have not done enough work selling and refining our message. "Our" message from DU seems to be one of hyperbolic pessimism, anger, and hate. We hate capitalism. We hate America. We hate Republicans and Democrats and FReepers and Talibornigans and Morans and Sheeple. We hate idiots (and we define 'idiot' as 'anybody who disagrees with me/us'). We hate cops. Hate seems to be the primary message.

"Merry Christmas." - Same to you.

15. Yes Merry Christmas
I suspect that the same people who are whining today, would be whining about social security if they were around when it was passed.

This is a good thing. Get on board.

5. Much appreciated
I'd like to mention that we may be on the cusp of a turnaround in the economy, with new jobs being created in the green sector. Let's retool the rust belt & get back to work!

7. Uh. No.
The monthly mandated health insurance payments are going to take care of any possibility of an economic rebound due to the fact that people who might have had a little bit of disposable income to buy electronics, appliances and such, will be sending it to insurance companies instead.

judging by the paltry few bobble-headed nods it's gotten so far, I'd say what I'm thankful for is that not many people seem to be sharing in this dangerous delusion.

Hey it is a thread for Thanks.

You didn't specify what. :)

9.  Ironically, celebrating the guy who said, "Blessed are the peacemakers" K&R
Which is now considered a fringe, loony-left, "too liberal", ideal, by some here.

10. Now, now, you need to enjoy the "Win" and get over it.
Just look at it like some insane NFL Rivalry, and you'll have the idea.

Quit with all the logic, reason, facts, truth, etc.

"Winning" is all that matters.

12. I'm thankful that I can see the good in this country.
I'm thankful that I'm not one of the perpetually disgruntled who can see nothing worthwhile in anything.
I feel sorry for them. (and I'm sorry they have chosen to crap in your thread)

14. Amen.
The future, 2010 and beyond, will be so only if we help, and work as hard as the President to make it happen.

He never said, "Yes, I can." He said, "Yes, WE can."

Let it be so.
