Cancer claims life of author Chastain
OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- U.S. author Jim Chastain, known for his poetry and autobiography about his battle with cancer, has reportedly died at the age of 46
The Oklahoman reported Friday Chastain chronicled his lengthy battle with cancer in his autobiography, "I Survived Cancer But Never Won the Tour de France."
Chastain, who was first diagnosed with cancer in 2001, also wrote books of poetry titled "Like Some First Human Being" and "Antidotes & Home Remedies." The former of the two was a 2009 finalist for an Oklahoma Book Award.
The Oklahoman said it began chronicling Chastain's battle with cancer in January and detailed how the author lived cancer-free for three years before learning his colon cancer spread to his liver in 2007. Later, additional tumors were found in Chastain's lungs.
