GOP Candidate Warns Obama to 'Stay Away' From Massachusetts Senate Race

Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown issued a stern warning to President Obama, cautioning him to "stay away" from Massachusetts as he battles Democratic rival Martha Coakley in a heated race, the Boston Herald reported.

"He should stay away and let Martha and I discuss the issues one on one," Brown told the Herald. "The machine is coming out of the woodwork to get her elected. They're bringing in outsiders, and we don't need them."

Polls indicate Brown, a state senator, and Coakley, Massachusetts' Attorney General, are locked in a virtual tie to fill the late Sen. Ted Kennedy's Senate seat. Coakley's campaign is now scrambling for a last-minute boost from Obama before Tuesday's election, the newspaper reported.

Coakley told the Herald on Wednesday that she hasn't heard from the White House and would welcome any public support from Obama.

"I welcome his support, but we've got a lot of support here in Massachusetts (and) I think he's got a lot on his plate in Washington," she told the paper.

18. But He Does Address The Coakley Campaign
Edited on Thu Jan-14-10 09:20 AM by Dinger
That apparently isn't going to get WH support, or at least not much of it.

"The President did send an email today, and that's good. But Gibbs said today that the President isn't going to fly up there to help. And that's that. It's difficult to understand what is more important than watching the Democrats' entire agenda disappear next week when we lose our 60th vote in the Senate."

51. Oh so he doesn't need
anytime for relaxation. First people were complaining he was overexposed, doing too much. Then he's not doing enough. Which is it? BTW don't we have other Democrats that can help. I donated to www.actblue.com click on Coakley. The question was what are you doing to help? BTW I saw the link about the 2 iron, didn't click the link then and don't plan to now. If the president had a good golf game good for him. I didn't click on the thread because I figured it was something negative.

52. Of course you wouldn't like to see any information that conflicts
with your world view. If you have to go through life with blinders on to get by go for it. I am not the President. To question what we as individuals do to push politics along as if it is equal to what a President can do is just foolish.

And I don't have to agree with you. You don't know what my world view is so stop trying to act as though you do. You don't know when I agree/disagree with the President because I don't say it on this site. Feeding in to a bunch of crap just doesn't do it for me. Blinders give me a break is that all you got?

Oh, he's not that popular and won't work for you! I wonder why!!!

Personally, I'd like to see more Democratic candidates be more independent from Obama too, and champion more core progressive Democratic principles without his "help". Maybe bring in someone like Russ Feingold instead to help with that.

This guy is such a phony, all he needs to do is take out ads driving around in a pickup truck with a cowboy hat on to complete the 'everyman' facade...oh wait, he DID drive around in his ads in a pickup truck. I guess the cowboy hat thing probably wouldn't resonate here in the Bay State...surprised he wasn't wearing a Red Sox cap.

That's "let Martha and ME," not "let Martha and I." Twenty-something universities in Boston alone, and you
can't get first grade grammar right? Do these people feel some kind of obligation to prolong the sterotype
of the ignorant Republican (and not just because of their grammar), or are they really that way?

31. check the internet, but there is PPP & Rasmussen which show a close race. The poll that has Coakley
up 15-points is also a fairly dated poll--having been conducted Jan 2-6, so it's over a week old. The other polls are more recent.
