13. Craig Ferguson says it's Penguin Awareness Day -- my theory is...
... they replaced the squirrels with penguins because of all the "global cooling."

8. If you're going to be so sensitive, perhaps you should stay out of GD for a while.
As someone once so wisely advised me.

14. Yeah, I was doing something very similar.
During the Witch Fire someone wrote a satirical OP (some of which was intended to be humorous), so I replied that it was nice that people can joke about it. 'Cause ya' know, the fires weren't out yet and they hadn't discovered all the bodies of the people that had died. (Not that the humor was directed at victims of the fire, but the overall subject just seemed like satire might not be the ideal way to make a point while the fires were still burning - not funny, given that people die in fires.)

Well, my comments were not exactly welcomed.

"Ease up."
"Get the stick out of your butt."
"Stay out of GD."

That last one seemed to be convey that if I didn't like what someone posted, I should just keep my comments to myself. To me, the situation seems analogous to this OP and your comment, so for some reason I thought I should forward that advice.

9. yeah check it out
Here's the error message:

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /tag/*/index.

Reason: DNS lookup failure for: 127.0.0,1

See that comma before the number '1'? That should read '127.0.0.1' (using a period in that space) instead.

The real funny part is that the 127.0.0.1 address is the feedback address, i.e. they f-ed up connecting it to itself.

5. We had some thunderstorms today across central CA.
It seems to have knocked a lot of stuff down. Funny I've been through some awful storms around the country, but the infrastructure seems to remain intact probably because it's a regular occurrence in those places, but here where this stuff seldom happens everything falls apart.

We have a serious problem with our servers and are now running on an older backup system. Unfortunately, the older servers have less power and we'll be limping along until we solve the problem. Hope to have it fixed soon.

Jeez. You'd think with all the money they raise with their snookerthons that they could afford colocation, redundancy and reliability.

The reactionary morans can't even configure localhost correctly.
