Supreme Ct ruling on corporate campaign contributions has finished HCR forever
Edited on Wed Feb-10-10 02:33 PM by grassfed
The Supreme Court ruling on corporate campaign contributions shattered all hope for HCR as Dems and Reps can now expect unlimited Pharma and Insurance company paydays.

It's over except for the theatre of it all.

Someone please prove me wrong.

7. I think I'm more debbie downer than chicken little
chicken little was wrong... but please tell me how unlimited corp money will move LANDRIEU, BACHUS, LIEBERMAN BAYH, LINCOLN and NELSON to the left? I think now, even non-blue dog Dems will move right to fund their campaigns... and to keep pharma and insurance co funds from going to opponents.

3. Buck-up little camper
They might still be gracious enough to bestow mandates upon us.

We should be grateful. :sarcasm:

5. Mandating that everyone buy insurance probably didn't bother insurance companies too much. Quite the
opposite in fact.

6. Unless corporations get tired of subsidizing the insurance companies
The cost of health insurance is already a drag on hiring. It's one reason why corporations would rather automate, downsize, outsource -- almost anything rather than hire new employees for whom they'd be obligated to pay insurance.

I even saw it suggested a couple of days ago that corporations which have switched to cheaper insurance plans with higher copays and deductibles find that they're suffering from it in terms of reduced workforce productivity because people aren't going to the doctor.

I suspect that at this point, the corporations are displaying solidarity with the insurance companies on general principles. But as health insurance costs increasingly come out of their own pockets, they're going to get fed up. And since they're already trying to switch the costs to their employees and it isn't working, the only choice is going to be to turn to the government.

I don't know how soon the tipping point will be reached -- that 39% rate increase was only on individual subscribers, not on corporate plans. But when it is, we will have affordable health care so quickly it will make your head spin.

8. repub obstructionists and tea bag tantrums were just biding time for SCOTUS decision
that now has undone HCR... Looks choreographed... too coincidental.
