Concepcion Picciotto sits in the snow as she continues her 24-hour-a-day peace vigil - pics

Peace protestor Concepcion Picciotto sits in the snow as she continues her 24-hour-a-day peace vigil in Lafayette Park across from the White House in Washington, Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010. Picciotto, an immigrant from Spain who has been active with her peace vigil since 1981, said she has been sleeping under a plastic tarp during the snow storm. A blizzard howled up the East Coast on Wednesday, making roads from Baltimore to New York City so treacherous that even plow drivers pulled over and bringing more misery to a Mid-Atlantic region poised to have its snowiest winter on record.

2. O and the dems should take a long hard look at that women --
that is the face of courage, dedication, strength, and principles.

They might learn a little something.

5. She is amazing.
You have to give her credit for the lengths she will go to stand up for what she believes.

Has she actually been there since 1981? That's more than impressive.

4. Yep.
Concepcion Picciotto (born c. 1945), also known as Conchita or Connie, has lived in Lafayette Square on the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C., in a peace camp across from the White House, since August 1, 1981 in protest of nuclear arms. She trades off occupation of the camp with two other people.

Born Concepción Martín in Vigo, Spain, she emigrated to the United States at the age of 18. She worked in New York at the Spanish consulate. She fell in love with an Italian businessman and married him at 21. However, a bitter separation and custody battle cost her her home, her daughter and her job.

Picciotto was featured in Michael Moore's 2004 film Fahrenheit 9/11.
