1. Good thing he's not a woman, otherwise he'd be "whining to the media".
According to many DUers.

4. +1 and they'd be calling her lazy and shit like that cheering the airline and
saying how much fat people contribute to global warming and how big their carbon foot print is...they'd be saying why can't she get off her fat ass and work on he weight and say how they hate sitting next to lazy fat fucks.

But because it is a man, and a man they like then Southwest is in the wrong.

I've seen what you are talking about on DU all the time. It is SAD. Sad. sad. that 'progressives' have such contempt for women.

11. You should listen to the entire SMODcast
http://smodcast.com/smods/smodcast106.html

It's an hour-and-a-half long but right around minute 60, you'll discover why Mr. Smith decided to turn this incident into a scorched-earth mission. Hint: It's not all about Kevin.

14. Of course he did it for altruistic reasons!
I mean, it's not like he's some whiny broad, or anything.

16. Thank you for posting this link
I listened to it all. His compassion for the woman sitting next to him was touching.

Every time I've flown over the past several years, I've been in first class on miles. Those seated next to me have been (without failure,) kind and thoughtful. I realize how lucky I am. It is not lost on me that the reason for this is because I was in first class, and the airline treats everyone there with courtesy -- after all, how do they know who's on miles, and who just forked out $1200 to fly from Seattle to San Francisco?

I have to fly again in July. The miles account has been exhausted, so I will be buying two seats, or I can't go.

Southwest just bit off a lot more than they can chew with Mr. Smith. They divulged some of his flying habits in their Tweets last night, which shows they were more concerned with proving themselves right than his privacy as a customer. His comments in his podcast are damning to them.

2. Ouch.
Gabriel Iglesias does a similar rant, only his is funnier and SFW. It's on YouTube and I'm not going to link to it because a search will turn up all his stuff and it's all worth watching.

3. Southwest Airlines is the absolute worst
Their seats are little. One has to be a child or an anorexic adult to fit in those seats.

5. lol too funny
I'm amused by the fact he's complaining period.

He paid for two seats on a later flight since he knew he was a bit big...

He then chooses to fly standby and this happens.

Guess he should have waited...

Gotta love Kevin Smith though!!

12. No
He paid for three seats, an entire row, for himself and his wife and their privacy.

18. If you actually listen to his pod cast, SW agreed he wasn't too big, and he has a right to complain
regardless.

8. if he was able to put the armrests down
and the women next to him were fine, then why the f*** (his favorite word ;) ) is SW being such asses about it? How is that a safety hazard?

13. Because it was a full flight
and they couldn't force him to buy a second seat, so they sold his seat to somebody else and bumped him.

17. It wasn't a safety hazzard.
If it is, then why are overweight people inconsistently cited and why don't they explain the full hazard to us. The guy could buckle his belt and fit in his seat.
