3. I love curling

Of course its totally absurd, especially using 'brooms' in an Olympic event but its addictive.

The funniest part is when the curlers are playing at molasses speed and never break a sweat find themselves in a chess like situation and actually have to take a time out. Its kind of like taking a donut break in the middle of your coffee break.

But I love to watch it.

7. It is like chess, isn't it? Plotting strategy every step of the way.
My 5 year old daughter and I watched the US women beat the UK last night. It was addicting.

11. There is a time limit for each team for each game -- that's where the time outs come in
That and getting advice from the coaches. Each team has 73 minutes to finish the match, with the clock running as soon as the opponent's previous rock stops until their own rock stops. If the 73 minutes run out then the team forfeits. It came into play with the mens team a couple of matches ago, I think against France, because in the last end France was almost out of time so they couldn't take any time at all to plan strategy for each shot (except one where they called their last timeout), and so the US was able to set up to win. It was speed curling. Very exciting stuff :)

But yeah, it is kind of weird to see them calling the timeout, given the general pace of the game.

4. It caught my attention because they yell.
HARD! HARD! or LOW! LOW!

I don't understand why they use those brooms, either.
