If Clinton had lied us into a war, allowed nine eleven to happen despite repeated warnings, approved torture and spying and profited from a war in which half a million people died, I wonder if they would have impeached him?

1. Try pitchforks and bonfires.
Rush and Fox would've shown dead troops, body bags, and funerals 24-7! Calls for troops to mutiny against that "draft dodger" Clinton! Basically the worst parts of the "Tales Of two Cities"

2. I don't even think Clinton would've been able to get that far, if at all.

10. Don, you know better than that....
The Clinton administration was directly responsible for maintaining the embargo against Iraq long after it had complied with U.N. disarmament mandates because it was politically expedient to do so. A million Iraqis died needlessly as a result. 500,000 were children.

No, it's not "all Clinton's fault." But yes, Clinton has lots and lots of Iraqi blood on his hands.

6. Impeached, removed from office
. . . and castrated with a rusty knofe, after which his member would be stuffed and mounted and hung from the wall in Tom DeLay's office.

Tom had a thing for Clinton's thing.

7. It's not just about one candidate. It's about decades of planning, corporate
backing, willingness to lie, willingness and talent to smear, blind allegiance of your base, willingness to polarize, ruthlessness, ability to exploit hate, silence and complacency of the public, ability to pull down the cloak of secrecy over your govt, willingness to purge the cia and regulatory agencies and DOJ and replace them with cronies and hacks, ability to bribe congressmembers from your own party with pork and threats so that they do exactly what you say, willingness to abuse power with signing statements and upsetting the balance of power, the emergence of corrupt congressmen willing to do anything for power and money, greed of people who agree with policy of putting more money into the hands of fewer and fewer people, etc...etc...etc.

It's not just the man. This disease was begun a long time ago and has infected almost every portion of our national infrastructure. It took a lot of help from a lot of different people on both sides of the aisle.

8. Not sure he would have been
I agree that negligence and a LIHOP led to 9\11. But, even some of the most liberal people are unwilling to believe that such a thing could happen here.
The same patriotic nationalistic mood would have swept the country with citizens with military background leading it. Many are conservative and you have a country lining up behind him. Some, disappointed only if he doesn't attack someone.
If he had had the same operation a Rove standing behind him, an ugly agenda, with the same obscene excuses and he would have skated through it.

As the famous Goerblles famously stated, "The bigger the lie, the easier it is to convince people."

It seems that people respond to them almost with empathy.
(Remember how even liberal people kept saying a person in the position of presidency, yada yada yada.....)
The little "lies" that seem to be unnecessary, and come off as arrogant. ("It would have all been over if he had just admitted it, etc.")

The big lies seem so incredible that they are unbelievable.

9. He would have been impeached in 2001 for 9/11 complicity
So the War question is hypothetical.
