Kansas Senate republicans realize their agenda sucks

Majority Republicans in the Kansas Senate have backed away from proposals to reduce benefits for jobless workers as a way of helping employers.

A bill debated Thursday would revise the law that sets
employers' payments into the state's unemployment benefits trust
fund.

A Senate committee included language that would cost some
workers one week's jobless benefits and deny benefits to people who
quit their jobs to follow a spouse to another community.

But Republicans helped strip those provisions out on a voice
vote after Gov. Mark Parkinson called them unacceptable
