The Car-puccino: A Car That Runs on Coffee
Source: Daily Mail

A car that runs on coffee is unveiled today - but it certainly won't take the grind out of commuting.

And at between 25 and 50 times the cost of running a car on petrol, the invention won't please any motor industry bean-counters either.

Nicknamed the Car-puccino, it has been created using a converted 1988 Volkswagen Scirocco bought for £400 and chosen for its resemblance to the time-travelling DeLorean in the movie Back To The Future.

The car will be driven the 210 miles between Manchester and London powered only by roasted coffee granules.

8. According to one of the comments in the article...
This story is incorrect!!

I know about this car. It runs on Coffee GRINDS which are a waste product, not coffee BEANS which arn't. Coffee grinds get thrown in landfill by the ton and this is an ingenious method of power production from something that is normally thrown away.

You can get coffee grinds form the supermarket to use as slug repellent, or save up enough and power your car with them! Coffee beans wouldnt work anyway, the grinds are pelletised to be an exact size and moisture content.

9. Thanks
I envisioned grinding my coffee and feeding it to the car...but used grinds have merit. I'm going to get them from the coffee stop and add them to my compost. Good fuel there too.
