Retirees NOT Receiving Checks
If you are not disturbed, you've not been paying attention. The house of cards is falling. Who is next? Who is killing/robbing grandma now?

PRICHARD, Alabama - The City of Prichard is proposing electronic bingo to help with its financial crisis.

Retired city workers may or may not be in favor of it, but they would certainly welcome any funds they can get in their pension plan. You see, they haven't received a retirement check in 6 months.

Jerry Mosley is enjoying his home for now, but he still has mortgage payments to make. He thought that would be easy to do once he retired from the Prichard Fire Department, but unfortunately, he has not received a retirement check in months and he's not sure if he ever will again..

Mosely and dozens of others retirees will again be at Prichard City Hall on Thursday hoping for some good news. A bankruptcy hearing is scheduled for next week, and the retirees plan to be there too.

23 years 8 months. That's how long Butch Blake worked for the Prichard Fire Department. He's one of the dozens of retirees who continues to hope for the best, but he's not optimistic.

Prichard's next bankruptcy hearing is scheduled for Tuesday morning at 8:30.

1. Jeez, the second article in a few minutes on this general subject that I've read
(the other was different, not a dupe) Looks like there is a nationwide plan to suck this well dry.

5. Makes sense
Contracts with 'ordinary people' aren't worth the paper they're written on, but gramps better pay that mortgage or else said bank will seize his house.

9. Do you really think this is a state issue?
What about California, Illinois and New York -- all of which are spiraling into bankruptcy -- do we blame them for voting for Democrats?

10. Looks like it's perfectly
fine to rob grandma and grandpa out of their earned and promised benefits for taking lower salaries all those years for better benefits, but talking to them about end of life choices equates to "killing grandma". ::shakes head and walks off in disgust::
