Are the Senators sleeping tonight?
Or are they pulling an all-nighter?

3. The last I read, the repubs are trying to hold the bill hostage;
Harry's returning the favor and holding the repubs hostage. He's not letting them take a break and I'm reading the Democrats are holding together in (not quite) lockstep. Harry calculated about 9 hours worth of repub amendments.

LOL

It's boring as hell to watch.

4. Ben Nelson broke at least once
I haven't heard of any of the others. Disappointed that every Republican is going along with this crap too.

6. I'm never sure if one's actually broken ranks or if they've been given
the go ahead for political cover.

It's kinda hard to tell.

My 72-year-old mother, with Alzheimer's, was hearing about it on the news. She said, "they're acting like a bunch of little kids." She has Alzheimer's and she can still see it. Imagine what that says about those freaking teabaggers when they can't see what a woman with Alzheimer's can.

9. That's always possible
But I would think in this instance, if I wanted cover, I'd just lop the whole slug of votes together under one umbrella of an excuse. Otherwise they can pick apart the whole thing, "well you voted no/yes on this one, why didn't you on this other one over here". I don't remember what the particular amendment was though.

Did you hear the opt out of Medicare Part A? Why would anyone want to opt out of Part A?

11. Yeah I saw that Medicare one.
They're doing the equivalent of reading the phone book into the record. It's just a game to them.

10. All the 'pugs are scared of McConnell.
He's probably got some kind of standing threat hanging over their edge if they deviate even minutely from "the line".

12. It went like this when the Southern segregationist filibuster was broken in '64
Even though they knew they had lost, they dragged passage of the Civil Rights Act out as long as possible. Probably wanted their constituents to get in a few more lynchings before the vote came in.

8. I haven't watched a whole lot but when Republican senators
put in amendments for gay rights and other liberal causes so they can change the language and KILL THE BILL, I can't believe how callous they are. I'm watching right now. Mostly these amendments are being shot down.
