My rant to an Ex facebook friend yesterday before "defriending her"....
Kathleen *****: Yes, and all progressives/liberals/whatever you are calling yourselves these days, are geniuses. Seriously people!

Yesterday at 4:38pm · Cindy *******: Kathy, I purposely try not to talk politics with you, but you are grossly uninformed and fail to look at all of the facts. You base your opinions on what you hear on Fox news and Bob Dutko! I for one am very happy that Nick can stay on my health insurance until he is 26 while he is in med school. I am also happy that in the event that we are without health insurance that I can buy coverage without worrying that Steve with his asthma, Nick with is medical issues that we've discussed and Stevie, with his hip cannot be denied coverage based upon a pre-existing condition. In addition, as my husband's business has less than 25 employees, his business will get a substantial tax credit for continuing to provide health insurance benefits to his employees. You are educated, and that is why your beliefs STUN me! You are one of the ones that would call Jesus a socialist/fascist! Do you even have any idea what those words mean? Fascism is a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology. Fascists seek to organize a nation on corporatist perspectives; values; and systems such as the political system and the economy.Scholars generally consider fascism to be on the far right of the conventional left-right political spectrum. Fascism believes that a nation is an organic community that requires strong leadership, collective identity, and the will and ability to commit violence and wage war in order to keep the nation strong. Sound familiar? And really, is Obama a socialist? Really? He worked with the insurance industry to reform health care. This is not want we proud liberals/progressive wanted truth be told. We wanted either a single payer system like all other developed countries in the world or a strong public option to drive competition. Hopefully, we will get that down the road. You supported a man who took this country to war against a country that DID NOT ATTACK US! Many thousands of men and women of the military DIED as a result, not to mention countless innocent iraqis! You're beloved president has ADMITTED that Saddam was NOT involved with 911. Where were the weapons of mass destruction???? And the wars were kept off of the books of the budget of this country? Now those wars are back in the budget... Our very intelligent, thoughtful president is trying to fix the mess and is trying to get the government to WORK. No right left divide... Well, his efforts failed! Now people of your radical political persuasion are targeting people who are actually trying to govern in the manner that was intended by our constitution and are resorting to violence! They follow the incitement of Glenn Beck, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh and are incapable of thinking for themselves! I have no problem debating issues with people who are informed and have the facts. People who have a knee jerk reaction to issues without knowledge, I personally have no use for.

And as an aside, the religious beliefs of a few, in a multi-cultural nation comprised of people who worship in their own way, based on their own deeply held beliefs is not a basis for governing this country. One of the main reasons why the settlers came to this country was to escape the forced religious dictates of the British Monarchy. The founders believed in religious freedom and purposely crafted the constitution to preclude the establishment of a government sponsored religion.

Cindy******: Oh and btw. We progressives/liberal call ourselves AMERICANS!

2. Great post
My only suggestion would be to break up your thoughts into smaller paragraphs, so the post is easier to read.

5. Great rant!
I unfriended a long-time friend because we had a huge argument over a picture she had posted. It was called an urinal target (crosshairs and all) with Obama's face on it. She thought it was funny and I didn't. So unfriended her right then.

6. People who embrace the madness of the teabaggers
are not worthy of your friendship, nor the friendship of anyone else. I have officially withdrawn any possibility of friendship, fellowship, or association with any of these people, who have self-exiled themselves to the fringe of society.

9. You stated your reasons quite eloquently
Especially when talking specifically of the benefits to you and your family. Maybe that will give her pause since you say she's intelligent. Otherwise at least you're rid of someone who is radically wrong.

I really do think she is a lost cause. She is one of those who tries to force her religious beliefs on anyone and everyone, etc...

11. I know how that goes. I lost my sister to The Angry God Who Hates Gays
The last straw was our argument about God hating gays. She claimed God is a jealous God and that gays go to hell. I asked how that could be possible since God created all things out of God matter and that included gays. That would be like God hating God. When she couldn't answer that she decided I was going to hell for questioning God. She wrote me a long long letter describing my everlasting punishment for blaspheming. After a few paragraphs I realized she was really enjoying the idea of my fate in Hell. Her descriptions were like Dante's Hell.

It's not worth it to keep up a relationship when it's the Born Again Christian who is meaner than the Agnostic. There's just something fundamentally wrong there.

18. That's what always fascinates me about religious fanatics - that they
are generally so much meaner and selfish than agnostics and atheists.

19. It is sad, and very human..
People who are hyper religious tend to use it as a crutch to support their thoughts about the world rather than as a call to improve themselves and add a positive impact to their community and society. People who actually live their faith tend to be more accepting and actively trying to promote social justice. People who use their faith tend to be the fanatical, dangerous people we are seeing who want to establish a theocracy. Their personal faith and spiritual calling is so weak that they cannot accept anything less than the absolute primacy of their particular faith tradition.

29. Yes....exactly...
...and to use religion as a device for behaving like a judgmental, myopic,
rigid schmuck really is an irony isn't it?

I can behave like a jerk because I believe x.

Religion is nothing but destructive when people use it as a free pass to
act like a jerk and treat their fellow human beings like chattel.

12. Nice post. Sometimes when i talk to republicans, they sound like they are in a cult.
I just remind them of the years we just had under Bush and Co. who brought us to the brink of another great depression.

13. You left out that Bush created more U.S.-foreign owned debt than all previous Americans combined.
And that he trashed the surpluses we had before he took office.

But then there's probably no point in arguing with these people.

Yes, it's true. So much you could have added that it's hard to keep track of it all and probably would have crashed the Facebook servers.

Course, you might have become famous then: "Facebook User Crashes Site by Listing All Bush Admin, Republican Crimes, Hypocrisies"

16. the crazies have come out!
It must be a full moon or something because I just had to defriend and report a cousin (admittedly not a close one). He posted a comment in response to something I had written that talked about killing both the HCR bill & President Obama!!!!!!! I immediately saved a screenshot, wrote him a message about how he should be absolutely ashamed and embarrassed of himself considering my father (his uncle) was a preacher and asked him when Jesus taught that killing was the answer, and then told him to reach out to me when he had gotten some help. I told him if he didn't take the post down immediately I would report him. When he didn't I did just that.

This bill has just pushed them over the deep end!

Wow, I'm on FB and I am impressed with your response. I tend to
keep my FB political discussions pretty lite--because I have
friends of all persuasion. So, sometimes I wonder if I'm not
being a wimp.

So, I applaud you for that amazing, well-reasoned and intelligent

If you wouldn't mind sharing, I would love to hear about the responses
you rec'd to that post. Did your Fundie FB friend respond in any way?

Again...just AWESOME! :applause: :) :wow:

30. Great rant! And btw, I really think we need to start complaining to our congresscritters about Beck
and Limbaugh inciting riots and threatening death and revolution. If we don't complain, then all they hear is the teevee version of the matter.

COMPLAIN TO CONGRESS THAT WE'RE SICK OF THESE WHACKOS TRYING TO BRING DOWN OUR COUNTRY AND OUR GOVERNMENT WITH VIOLENCE!!!

This is a legal issue that NEEDS to be dealt with.
