She didn't sacrifice and my Daddy fight so that a bunch of loons could threaten the government because they don't like a law that was passed. My parents wanted to preserve our system as flawed as it may be. That may have never been a way they stated it, but I would bet that would do.

Both of them watched Medicare and a lot of other big programs to help people become law. I never heard them moan about them. they didn't agree with everything that was passed, but I never heard them utter a word about taking up arms.

I also never heard my relatives talk like that until now. The idiots who are stoking this and not strongly denouncing it have appealed to the worst parts of their fears. It has taken a long time to beat back reactionary forces so that a lot of people were just grumblers. In time, they might have changed, but at the least more generations would pass. Hopefully the grumbling would have lessened some each minute, slowly but surely.

Now it's out again in full force. Years of work to at least contain the haters are out the window. So we keep going, but with a much harder task. The work never stops because the hate never really goes away. There is no rest for the weary. Ever.

using her age that was listed, it was 1941. It still has one coupon.

I found my mom's ration books after she passed away. She was so young that my grandmother had to sign for them. Even though I remember my grandmother's accounts of the depression, seeing those books was jarring.

I believe the only rationing we will see in the future will be monetary, as in, if you don't have the money to buy food, too fucking bad for you, you sorry-assed loser.

Our sense of community has become so restricted, so narrow that too many people no longer look at others they share their physical locale with as community, but rather as strangers to be feared & hated. Many of our institutions & entertainment cultivate a mean-spirited & punitive mindset. Too many people have lost their sense of 'for the common good.' America is in a sad & tragic place right now.

4. At one time I had a Tabasco Charlie Ration Cookbook in Vietnam.
Cs and Super Cs were nothing to write home about.
