David Shuster In Hot Water???

MSNBC anchor David Shuster might be in hot water. He wasn't on at his normal 3 p.m. time yesterday, soon after his bosses learned that he'd shot a pilot for rival cable news network CNN. The New York Observer reported online that Shuster co-anchored the pilot with NPR's Michel Martin. "If true, this is unacceptable and David will be punished appropriately," an MSNBC spokesman told Page Six. Shuster couldn't be reached.

1. I love when the corp bigwigs use the word "punish"
as if he'll have to stand in the corner, nose first.

BUT--- if David broke his contract...it ain't good.

4. I do like your dream. I thought a replacement for Christine but taking
wolf out of the picture would be such a gift. I could actually watch CNN if I knew David had that spot. He's the only decent one on MSNBC before Keith... Hang in there David, you have many fans. MSNBC is not watchable anymore.

6. Sounds Fishy To Me...
His schedule puts him on the air throughout most of the day...and I assume he sleeps at night, doesn't leave a lot of time to do a pilot. But let's see where this leads...if it has any merit at all. We've seen these type of headlines in a Murdoch rag to find out it's been made up or taken out of context.

7. NY Post is a gossip rag
Especially "Page Six." Most of what gets printed there turns out to be false. Not to be trusted.

9. I agree with you, but this item came up yesterday when MSNBC had
scrubbed his website. Of course NYPost would love this and I also hope it's a lie.

10. In defense of gossip in general and of Page Six

The definition of "gossip" contains NO reference to UN-truth.

I liked the gossipers Liz SMITH (famous for being called a two-dollar-whore by SINATRA), Cindy ADAMS, and Richard JOHNSON (or Ted CASABLANCA) when they were on the E! network. After they were finished there, I tracked them down and they happened (JOHNSON, not CASABLANCA) to be at the RAG, the NY Post. I have gleaned their columns for political tidbits for years, and very frequently things show up there first and are, weeks or months later, big news in "real" newspapers.

As for the "truth" in this particular item, it contains EXACTLY THE SAME information that is cited in a post down-thread linking to the NYT, both of them citing the Observer.

As for "Most of what gets printed there turns out to be false" ---no. I would take these old style gossipers for solid reporting any day over so-called "journalists" like David GREGORY, the dead G.E.RUSSERT, or Tweety.

Here's the disclaimer I would post in my frequent threads drawing from the three NY Post gossipers:

DISCLAIMER re: linking to the NY Post (for to head-off highly predictable, OT/hijacking posts):: Yes, it is a RAG. Yes, it is owned by NewsCorp/Faux's MURDOCH. No, he doesn't Dictaphone content to his gossip columnists. No, "gossip" does NOT equate to "UNtruth" (OR with "triviality" for that matter). These old time gossipers are more journalistically reliable than Tweety and such ilk. Frequently, political tidbits are here first, later to show up in more "respectable" venues. Keep friends close, enemies closer. Cherrypicking intel results in self-fulfilling FALSENESS. I got hooked on these gossipers when they were on the
E!1 network and, when they were cancelled, tracked them down and they happened to be at THE RAG (NY Post). ALL I read at THE RAG are the gossip and the horoscope.
