2. OH MAN! My vote goes to Liz Warren! She's smart, knows the laws,
aand doesn't take BS from anyone! She's also a very logical thinker & could get follow justices to vote with her opinion.

10. Yes she was.
Her name came up soon after the November 2008 election.

Several law journals and M$M reports had her name a few days after Souter's announced resignation.

21. Here you go.
"Similar concerns are being expressed over the nomination of Elena Kagan to Solicitor General. Kagan, who is openly gay, is being denounced for her support of open service for gay military personnel."

23. I don't know if it's going to show up in any AP profiles just yet.
From what I've heard, she likes to keep her private life private, so though it's not really a secret that she has a female partner she also doesn't make a big deal out of it. Hence it's mostly only known to people who attended Harvard Law School during her deanship, and people in the gay community.

24. Well, according to her official bio
She is dean of the Harvard Law School, and has taught there since 1981. "An expert in human rights and advocacy for members of racial and religious minorities and for women, children, and persons with disabilities, she also writes and teaches about privatization, military justice, and ethnic and religious conflict." She's published a slew of books (which is maybe not a good thing for a nomination procedure), including Between Vengeance and Forgiveness: Facing History After Genocide and Mass Violence, Just Schools: Pursuing Equality in Societies of Difference, and Family Matters: Readings in Family Lives and the Law. She served on the Independent International Commission Kosovo ... well, go read it yourself here:

http://www.law.harvard.edu/about/dean/dean-bio.html

She is the daughter of Newton Minow, who was JFK's FCC Chairman and who famously called television a "vast cultural wasteland" (what would he think today!). Besides, she has a nice smile

29. There are quite a bit of folks on that list to like, and like a lot,
especially in view of a list of nine names that might have been compiled for a President McCain's next SCOTUS nom.
