It's not just Arizona's legislature
It's republican controlled legislatures and repuke guvs in state after state. Look at Oklahoma's draconian abortion laws, or all the law suits against health care, or Virginia's idiot confederacy day. Georgia is considering legislation modeled after Arizona.

Bad things happen when republicans are in power. That may seem simplistic, but I challenge you to debate its veracity.

1. I brought this up in a post on whether or not to boycott
The fact is that if consequences do not come to Arizona in a quick and painful way, other states will be emboldened to do similar measures. Just as California had to suffer for their passage of their draconian anti-immigrant bill, proposition 13, in the late 70s and Colorado faced some pain after our more homophobic RETHUGS pushed through Amendment 2 in the early 90s, Arizona is going to have to face the pain of being "first" in order for them to be the "last" of states pushing such horrendous measures.

3. They do this so that they have "issues" to scream about on election day
The GOP caters to a base with the intellect of a demented, retarded ( I know I'll get flack for the use this word)gnat with short-term memory loss.

The republicans enacted and wholeheartedly embraced torture. In OUR NAME kids were raped, innocent people (guilty actually, they were ragheads you know) were BEATEN TO DEATH. We disappeared people, the simply did not return home or go to work. Thepresident proudly stood under a banner that declared "Mission Accomplished" Maybe his mission had been accomplished, you ever think of that?

Through GOP guided deregulation and dismemberment of oversight, our Nation came close (and we are not fully safe yet) to a catastrophic economic collapse. ANd the GOP is siding with the Banks and investment houses who brought this upon us and the FUCKING Tea Party who is so upset with taxes and deficit spending are supporting Conservatives!!!!

Jesus, all you have to do is run for office as a Republican and the dumbest, greediest, most racist person in the world will support you, even if you cheat on your wife, steal, sell votes, solicit gay sex and rape the Constitution.

4. In Kansas, the Republican legislature has voted so many tax cuts for the
wealthy and powerful that our tax base is drastically shrunken and can no longer support necessary services, inluding education.
