Showdown in my 'hood last night.

I was in my front yard last night, and I heard one of my neighbor ladies screaming "He's going to hit me...help me...this kid is going to hit me...I need a man."

I saw a teenage kid - 17ish -riding his bike "f*ck you bitch...I'll kick you're ass....blah blah." Real tough guy, right?

She ran to her door, still screaming for a man when a neighbor from further down the street walks down and says "I'm here..what's the problem?"

After much yelling and threats from the kid, the old man didn't back down. Kept right on walking up to the kid, who kept backing up. A few minutes later..several of our neighbors were in the street behind the old man.

It must have been pretty intimidating for the kid, after he yelled a few more obscenities I guess he realized he couldn't beat the whole hood, so he put his bike down, walked up to the old man, hugged him...and got on his bike and left.

I'm proud that my neighborhood was able to solve the problem without violence, and maybe the kid learned something.

but you can never be sure with kids these days. Sounds like he got the message loud and clear and hopefully will remember the event. You and your neighbors just might have saved his little ass from becoming a career criminal/bully.
