5. Interesting to hear the guy from NASA speak on providing input on working in hostile
environments. Analogous in a lot of ways I would suppose.

15. They should be pushing them now, not later.
I give up. Actually, I don't think BP should be pushed out of the way. They just shouldn't be in charge. Our agencies should be right in there supervising what is going on and we need to let the media in to show us exactly what is going on, none of the Coast Guard crap about doing what BP says.

25. I think our agencies are involved and there is critical oversight but as
you say, they need to let us know that and keep us apprised daily.

12. "Do you trust BP?" Salazar: "Do I have confidence they know what they're doing? No
not completely, that's why we have oversight - NASA etc.

14. But they're in charge, but we're watching.
Every force and resource of the US should be in charge of the clean up.

To not do that is negligent.

Bring home the troops right now to help! This is now becoming an International Emergency. The oil is headed east and will end up on the shores of Europe and Africa in not too long!

23. That's what I heard. He said they are in charge of oversight, but BP
is in charge cause they got the shit to do it.

But he don't trust BP.

pffffftttt.

24. I don't totally disagree. I'm not sure that he's not taking a strong
stance because his job may be on the line.

I think he has some complicity in this as does anyone who allowed BP that exemption. Now I've heard that the 'kill switch' wouldn't have worked anyway, but that's not the point. Instead of granting exemptions, we need to be demanding more safeguards.

Anyway, as I said I was happy to hear an administation person come right out and say it (I heard Gibbs kind of allude to it the other day in the way he DIDN'T answer the question).

28. I actually don't care if he had some complicity, if he does the right thing from this point
forward. "Right thing" means 1) insisting that every possible avenue is explored to stop the oil gusher and to clean up to the fullest extent possible, 2) rethinking the risks of offshore oil drilling, 3) ensuring that BP is penalized to the fullest extent possible, in light of their gross negligence which means that the $75M or $10B cap would not apply, and in light of unbiased estimates of oil volume (not BP's lies), and 4) that a truthful and public investigation is accomplished.
