Just looking around on various sites, the junk shot may have actually worked, for now, could blow any minute, assuming the reptiles running BP aren't lying.

Now they're pumping mud again and it's actually going down the well, am I correct?

If the top kill is successful the next step will likely be the installation of a second BOP which would mean they have to either remove the riser and/or LMRP so they have a fitting to latch the BOP.

If the top kill is not successful then they will proceed to attaching the LMRP "top hat".

Both of these procedures require cutting the broken riser.

So if I was the project manager I would go ahead and install my clamps for the saw and maybe the saw itself to save time later on.

Bottom line is that if they are installing the saw it doesn't actually indicate anything about the success or failure of the top kill.

14. Just watched it.

Beware of my speculations - they're frequently wrong, but looks like a big methane burp. Those chunks of debris looks like methane hydrate to me, though I could be wrong.

It could be that the BOP or the riser pipe blew, or maybe something else entirely happened.

We'll just have to wait until the next lies come out of Suttles' mouth...

17. Well, when I posted I was not satisfied the BOP was destroyed. And now,

...is showing the riser kink on top of the BOP. Whooops...and just now as I'm typing my bp.com cam has returned to the kink on top of the BOP and the date is current.

So, in the video I posted, we must be seeing something else, perhaps the methane "burp" you described. If you'll recall, the first warnings that something was wrong was someone on the rig saying the well was "kicking". Not exactly sure what that means, but perhaps it ties in with the "burp" you mentioned.

I am editing the subject line of my post to reflect that the BOP has NOT been destroyed.

That would make sense. Picture the mud holding back the oil, way down in the pipe.

Methane might be able to sneak by the mud and rise up, causing a burp.

18. Yes, the cam for the riser kink on top of the BOP has just returned. It's still there, thank God.

And the time/date display is showing that it's current. There has, however, been a substantial change in the look of the riser kink. It is still spewing but it looks as if the "junk" inside there has at least partially altered the character of the plumes coming out of the cracks in the kink.

The media reported yesterday that the oil flow had stopped and then retracted it in the late afternoon.

Historically the junk shot did not work on the Ixtoc well. Hopefully this attempt will be successful.

If not, it's Top Hat 2 time.
