http://www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com/go/doc/2931/575079/ is the multimedia release

http://cgvi.uscg.mil/media/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=892253&g2_serialNumber=7

This huge, unsharp pic (unless you want to evaluate Coast Guard skin care) is the closest to a decent view we get.

don't bother dl'ing the vid - it has TEN fucking seconds worth the name "overview", the rest ot the three minutes is, well, propaganda imho.
If you want to check the flight out a bit better though: youtube vid which is not from the "deep horizon unified command", I think: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH_7SbnjLOI

I went looking because the article below, linked on DU in LBN here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=4405501&mesg_id=4405501 is powerful but had no pics or video, much to my surprise.

on further edit: also checked google news (selecting US) and ZERO matches using this search http://news.google.be/news/search?aq=f&cf=all&ned=us&hl=en&q=c-130+gulf+overflight
Go figure :wtf: is that the same when you ppl try it out?

"Overwhelming stench from monstrous stain on the sea
Jacqui Goddard, over the Gulf of Mexico

Only from the air can the enormity and hopelessness of the situation be comprehended. Even before Lieutenant Rene Baez of the US Coast Guard lowers the ramp of the surveillance aircraft in which we are flying, opening up the cabin to a rush of air from the Gulf of Mexico 1,500ft below, there is no mistaking the smell of crude oil.

With the ramp down, the dose is strong enough to give a kick to the head — and the slick from which it emanates is monstrous."

A google on "oil spill c-130 overflight" didn't bring much except this official release. Anyone that finds or has better overflight pics or info on this specific flight, please add. The power of images...
