Has James O'Keefe Lost His Attention-Seeking Touch?
Edited on Tue Jun-01-10 01:32 PM by meegbear
Right-wing YouTube provocateur James O'Keefe has a follow-up to his pimp-costumed ACORN opus: He got a job as a Census taker and purposefully filled out his timecard incorrectly. He gets to go on Good Morning America for this?

O'Keefe is making the rounds on cable television for his latest thrilling expose, in which he tears back the curtain on the shadowy underworld of Census workers who say they worked four hours more than they actually did.

With a hidden camera, I caught four Census supervisors encouraging enumerators to falsify information on their time sheets. Over the course of two days of training, I was paid for four hours of work I never did.

The horror. Wait until he hears how my federally-employed mailman sometimes cuts across the lawn instead of walking straight along the sidewalk.

This video is a grave disappointment. Though asinine, O'Keefe's previous projects at least entertained us with funny pimp outfits, Gordon Gekko costumes, and federal crimes. This time around, he's as scintillating as a teenager filling out the paperwork for her after-school job at the mall food court. Are we supposed to believe he and Breitbart are so naive that lying on a timecard actually shocks them? Or that George Stephanopoulos interviewing O'Keefe on Good Morning America constitutes a "profile in media courage," according to ideological O'Keefe sugar daddy Andrew Breitbart?

I don't even care about this guy's politics or shaky understanding of journalistic ethics anymore. I care that James O'Keefe is being rewarded with fame for filling out a timecard wrong. This is not sufficient reason for fame! Do you have any idea how many timecards Michaela Salahi had to fill out wrong before she made it big? This is America. We expect better from our fameballs.

1. In America, it seems like the sociopaths get rewarded for their behavior
Good example of that here.

3. If the first part of his story is true---that's a crime
Falsifying a time card. The judge in the other case needs to know about this.

7. If all this is being done deliberately
and by more than a few bad apples and encouraged by those above so that people can take advantage of the situation then it really shouldn't matter who reports it. All Americans should be upset at waste and abuse of taxpayer money.

6. If this guy only gets slapped on the wrist for all the illegal
things he continues to do, what is going to stop him from pulling more things. AND answer this. Since the census worker is sort of on the honor system, and fill out their own time worked, how is a supervisor supposed to know for sure what the hours are. This just goes to show he is a crook, a con artist and a liar. I hope that one time he slips up an a judge socks it to him. Then he can report from jail while running from all those big old inmates.
