The Turnout: SEIU Executive VP Eliseo Medina joined a laundry list of influential minds including Rep. Raul Grijalva, Rep. Luis Gutierrez, National Day Laborer Organizing Network Executive Director Pablo Alvarado, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, Co-founder of United Farm Workers Dolores Huerta, singers Jenni Rivera and Alex Lora of El Tri.
Phoenix's march was one of over 60 actions planned across the nation to join efforts in demanding President Obama take Federal Action to stop racial profiling law, SB 1070. Pablo Alvarado, Executive Director, National Day Laborer Organizing Network spoke, saying,
"The eyes of the world are watching and President Obama must act. SB1070 is where we draw the line and say enough is enough. Enough of a disastrous and dangerous 'enforcement first' strategy to immigration reform. Enough to the criminalization of workers and families. We will escalate our struggle until the President acts concretely to stop the implementation of SB1070 and modernize the immigration laws to match the values of our nation."
