I think people are starting to somewhat boycott BP.
I went to get gas at a Conoco station which is next to a BP. This at a busy intersection and there were about 2 cars at the BP, but the Conoco was packed. I went in and mentioned something about it to the guy working the register and he told me that it's been dead over there all day long. Later on I drove past a different intersection that had a Shell and another BP next to each other. BP was dead but Shell was busy. It's nice to see people sort of waking up and shunning BP.
6. I ran my car down to fumes today, bypassing ARCO
even when the low fuel light came on. Hopefully I have enough left to chug down the hill to a different station in the a.m. but I simply refuse to give those criminals any of my money.
5. I feel so sorry for the poor gas station owners.
They're going to lose a business they put their lives into. With very little hurt to BP. You want to hurt them? Cancel the army contracts. Of course, then we'd have to end our wars. Win Win.
8. Well, it seems like nobody considers the little guys trying to make ends meet,
simply struggling to make a buck in the rush to boycott and punish the large corporation so we can feel smug and self righteous about our actions which are more meaningful to us than really hurting BP.
Congratulations because so very few people consider the little guy in the big picture.
10. Same concept when people thought we should let the auto industry fail. People didn't care what
happened to all the little guys who would be out of a job. They were told to suck it up, learn a new trade etc, etc. This is nothing new, we have lost our empathy :(
7. I used to always buy my gas at ARCO, can't do it anymore, I'm buying at Costco,
even though I have to drive 20 minutes to get there. I only hope they aren't buying from BP. I went past my usual ARCO station which is usually full of cars and there were only 2-3, I go by there a lot and it has been looking deserted. I only feel sorry for the people who depend on that station for a living who didn't make the decisions that led to the disaster.
