3. Oh, Just Bury the Bastard
Thanks for this important reminder.
When Ronald Reagan died and Nancy arranged for what seemed like WEEKS of pre-burial coverage, the TV in my workplace cafeteria was droning all Reagan, all the time. Finally, I couldn't stand it anymore. "Oh, just bury the bastard!" I yelled, alienating the Young Republicans gathered around the set.
Trouble is -- as you point out -- his legacy of deregulation lives on, culminating in the current financial crisis. I like to write limericks about Reagan, Bush One and Bush Two at my website

16. He lost his facilities sometime during his Presidency
Does anybody have any idea about when that happened? Perhaps the Vice President was really running the show with Reagan as the affable puppet. Gosh, remind me who his Vice President was? It's right on the tip of my tongue. Oh, yeah, George H.W. Bush.

Not absolving Reagan. Just wondering when the Alzheimer's kicked in.

We all substitute the wrong word from time to time. My spelling is usually impeccable and actually, I did spell facilities correctly, but I meant faculties.

22. I do remember seeing on TV a group of his "handlers" reviewing something they wanted
him to say or do. They remarked, "this is good, even HE'LL believe it", and they all laughed.

Sorry so vague on the memory. I just remember thinking how dumb he must be when I heard it.

Edited on Mon Jun-07-10 05:03 PM by abq e streeter
they are who are responsible... And yes,I know, there are some who eventually woke up and rejected what they'd previously fallen for. To those who did, I welcome them with open arms and complete forgiveness. I can't say I haven't been fooled into being wrong about something I should have known better about, and he without sin etc... But to those who continue to venerate this evil man's memory, and support the continuation of the policies he was a shill for ( and only that, we all know he was just the folksy "front man" for the real powers)... they are the disease and stooges like Reagan are only the symptom. ( apologies to the memory of Moe ,Larry, Shemp and Curly for denigrating the word "stooge" by associating it with a vile bastard like Ray-Guns))
