Gov. Haley Barbour of Mississippi, the former Chairman of the Republican National Committee, skipped a second straight meeting between President Barack Obama and the governors from the Gulf of Mexico region, the Biloxi Sun Herald reported on its website Friday. Obama did meet with the governors of Alabama, Louisiana and Florida.

Barbour's spokeswoman told the paper the governor was in New York City meeting with bond-ratings agencies and attending a Mississippi-themed picnic in Central Park.

He skipped a meeting with Obama last week during the president's trip to the region to attend the opening of a solar panel plant.

Barbour reminds me of that other well known cracker, Lester Maddox - Both southern governors who ignorantly and most arrogantly believe they are better and more deserving in that this country belongs only to "their kind" simply because of the color of their skin.
