1. LOL...Sounds like "The New Hampshire Advantage"
No general sales or income tax, but property taxes (and, hence, rents) up the wazoo.

Not to mention the avalanche of ticky-tack fees and surcharges that screw the little guy.

Oh, and that hamburger you bought at McDonalds? There's a 9% tax on that. But we can't consider making a millionaire pull his weight, can we.

3. New York City sure as shit does!
That triple tax was always a real kick in the head when we lived there.

4. I don't give a damn about high taxes,
the way I see it, they're no different from paying high prices at the gas pump or the grocery store.
If I knew that all the money was actually serving society, I wouldn't mind paying them at all.
I know good and well that the high prices I'm paying are doing some good, but what is not good is greasing the pockets of those who boast tens or hundreds of millions in income each year.

7. With poverty on the rise,
Edited on Mon Jun-21-10 10:29 AM by burnsei sensei
underemployment endemic,
under-education endemic,
a massively privileged corporate-rich investor class,
and infrastructure crumbling, I'd say the people saddled with prices and taxes have a right to be suspicious, don't you?
Let me just put it this way, I don't mind paying taxes.
What I do mind is the bad faith atmosphere that the presence of an entrenched aristocracy brings to the situation.
