6. Did you read the article?
It was his own people talking to a reporter and throwing him under the bus, not him.

You've got to be a real piece of work in the military to have people turn on you like that. Most effective generals are bastards to one extent or another, their job is war, after all. But to be so abrasive that even that isn't taken into account means that he's well beyond being a bastard.

Still, he's not the one who wanted to be on the cover of the Rolling Stone.

7. according to the reporter, interviewed on npr, he heard it all and laughed along
rather than disciplining his people.

it matters little if he didn't say anything nasty himself.

8. 'Are you asking me about Vice President Biden?'
'Are you asking me about Vice President Biden?' McChrystal asks the profile's reporter at one point, laughing. 'Who's that?'

He participated fully in this interview. What makes you think he didn't want to be on the cover?

Rolling Stone’s executive editor on Tuesday said that Gen. Stanley McChrystal did not raise any objections to a new article that repeatedly quotes him criticizing the administration.

McChrystal describes his first meeting with the president as disappointing in the article, telling Rolling Stone that Obama came in unprepared.

The general also takes shots at Vice President Joe Biden and National Security Adviser Jim Jones.
