Maine rally to launch tour for traditional marriage

Supporters of traditional marriage will gather in Capitol Park on July 14 for a rally to kick off a 19-city nationwide Summer for Marriage Tour.

Bob Emrich, a Baptist minister and one of two men who led the successful repeal of Maine's gay marriage law in November, is the local organizer. He's working with the National Organization for Marriage on the Maine rally.

"I keep hearing all the time about how marriage is going to come up again (in the Legislature)," he said. "I thought it would be a good idea to remind people."

After leaving Maine, the tour is scheduled to travel to Concord, N.H.; Albany, N.Y.; Providence, R.I.; Trenton, N.J.; and several other stops as far west as St. Louis. It is scheduled to end Aug. 15 in Washington, D.C.

1. Go ahead and have your party guys
Demographics are a bitch and they are going to find that out.

Every day more homophobic old people* kick the bucket and more marriage equality supporting 18 year olds become eligible to vote.

Enjoy it while it lasts guys.

*If you are an old person who supports marriage equality that that statement does not apply to you.

2. When the "tour" comes through our town I'll be the guy out there with
the sign that says "The Other 150 MILLION of us say Thank Gawd for Divorce".

3. "Marriage should be between one man and one woman... several times!"
Nothing in his platform about divorce or 24-hour marriages, I'll bet. Is he crusading against Rush Limbaugh's fourth marriage?
