Glenn Beck: Mormon conservative says he's on a mission from God
http://www.sltrib.com/ci_5872799

Glenn Beck is worried. He sees global news as evidence that the end of the world is spiraling toward us and God is prompting him to speak out.

Night after night on his hour-long show on CNN H eadline News, Beck rails against Islamic extremists, Iraq war critics, advocates of immigration leniency, environmentalists who warn against global warming, abortion rights and political correctness. His style is a mixture of hyperbole, passion, wit, sarcasm and self-deprecating silliness.

Conservative, but not partisan, Beck stakes out an extreme position, for example, then stares into the camera and asks plaintively, "Am I wrong about that?" defying anyone to take issue with him.

"Evil is taking root and it frightens me," Beck said in a phone interview from his New York City studio. "It overwhelms me at times and drives me to my knees."

5. his mother committed suicide when he was 13, his brother committed
suicide also. Another brother died of a heart attack. He was a big-time addict. There are some scary genes in his pool. No wonder he is full of rage and paranoia.

7. So there I was trying to make the case that Mormons don't care about global warming...
because it's effects are seen as part of their apocalyptic fantasies, when all I had to do was shut up and let Glenn Beck do it for me. Straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. There is a reason Mitt Romney already has the Oil Industry lined up behind him, he's the last candidate in the running that will do anything about global warming. To be fair though, any adherent of apocalyptic philosophies shouldn't be elected or appointed to any position where they can facilitate those end time scenarios. This is just common sense, isn't it?

8. Beck does not speak for Mormons or Mormonism on any issue.
if you think he does as you post implies you are sadly mistaken. He speaks only for himself and his own diluted politics. Same goes for Mittens.

My whole family is very conservative mormons and believe in Global Warming, as do most of the people in their ward (congregation).

As for Global Warming the Church hierarchy has been warning and talking about it since 1991.

Evidence for this global warming also comes from studies made by the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration, which analyzed records going back to 1860. The studies showed that the greatest global temperature increase has taken place in the last decade. Carbon dioxide and trace gases produced by our industrial societies were considered to be the cause. (See R. A. Haughton and G. M. Woodwell, “Global Climatic Change,” Scientific American, April 1989, p. 37.)

Another consequence of our burning large amounts of fossil fuels has been a condition called acid rain. Forests, streams, and lakes have all been seriously damaged in regions where pollutants in the atmosphere are converted into mild acids that are brought back to earth through rain and snow. As the acid accumulates, it kills both plant and animal life.
