47. Trickle Down by Bruce Cockburn & Andy Milne
This song pretty much nails the true meaning of "Trickle Down Economcs".

Picture on magazine boardroom pop star
Pinstripe prophet of peckerhead greed
You say 'Trust me with the money -- the keys to the universe'
Trickle down will give us everything we need

Brand new century private penitentiary
bank vault utopia padded for the few
And it's tumours for the masses coughing for the masses
Earphones for the masses and they all serve you

Trickle down give /em the business
Trickle down supposed to give us the goods
Cups held out to catch a bit of the bounty
Trickle down everywhere trickle down blood

What used to pass for education now looks more like ignoration
Take the people’s money and slip it to the corporation
Yellow rain golden shower pesticide firepower
Summon feudal demons of sweatshop subjugation

Workfare foul air homeless beggars everywhere
Picturephone aristocrats lounge around the pool
Captains of industry smiling beneficently
Leaking hole supertanker ship of fools

Trickle down give me the business
Trickle down supposed to give us the goods
Cups held out to catch a bit of the bounty
Trickle down everywhere trickle down blood

Take over takedown big bucks shakedown
Schoolyard pusher offer anything-for-profit
First got to privatize then you get to piratize
Hooked on avarice- how do we get off it?

Trickle down give me the business
Trickle down supposed to give us the goods
Cups held out to catch a bit of the bounty
Trickle down everywhere trickle down blood

Trickle down give me the business
Trickle down supposed to give us the goods
Cups held out to catch a bit of the bounty
Trickle down everywhere trickle down blood

Trickle down

15. Actually, you have it correct. It's dangerous of me to underestimate people like her.
What she said was probably some sort of ad lib, since it is so transparently illogical:

A: There is a reason why the wealthy and corporation in 2010 are not creating jobs.
B: The Bush tax cuts of 2001 aren't that reason.
C: Therefore, keeping the Bush tax cuts will encourage the wealthy and corporations to create jobs.

You see? Not only is her argument illogical, her suppositions lead to the OPPOSITE conclusion, i.e., 'tampering with the tax cuts EITHER WAY will have no effect upon job creation.'

During an exchange with Rep. Anthony Weiner, she asked him "If medicare is so good, how come you don't have it?" and had to have it explained to her.

To be in front of a national audience and to discuss a subject while being that ignorant about it takes an idiot.

she appeared on JEOPARDY and she was an embarrassment. I laughed my ass off. She barely got on the board-even on the questions that she should have known.

You should see her when Jack Welch is on. She wears her knee pads out sucking up to him. I gave up on her years ago. I only watch her to see her guest. When Country Wide Manzillo was on, I knew just by looking at him that he was a crook (he had a golf course tan-not a working CEO paleness) and this was a year before Country Wide went under.

42. According to the Repugs, the Bush tax cuts aren't expiring
The Democrats are raising taxes again, because that's all they know how to do.

Notice the words "on the rich" doesn't appear in that sentence; nor does it appear in their meme. The "frame" for this issue is that the Dems are raising the taxes on everyone, even though (1) taxes are not being raised, and (2) it affects mostly the very rich, since they are the largest beneficiaries.

You can expect "they're raising our taxes" to be the rally cry of Teabaggers, and that it will intensify as the expiration deadline gets closer.

Any bets on what the end result will be?

Or that OTHER classic stinker, "I never got a job from a poor man"

Jobs exist becuase there is demand for the product that the company is selling, NOT how rich and generous the CEO feels.

I fail to see how the personal income tax rate of the owner affects the hiring rate at a particular company. I'm guessing ZILCH.

If your buds aren't creating jobs at it's lowest point, something tells me that giving them infinitely more cash isn't going to inspire them to hire any more. It's taxing them that will do that. Idiot.

This seems to be the new talking point about taxes and the rich. Just let them keep their ill gotten gains and they PROMISE this time they'll trickle down on us. Yeah, like THAT'S worked so well for the last 30 years. NOT!

Let's try this for a while. We put the tax rates back to where they were in the 50s/60s and if they don't like it they can move to the free market Paradise of Somolia. Hey government's so evil, Somolia would be PERFECT for them. NO government there.

38. Her statement is illogical. If we do not rescind the tax cuts,
the rich will continue to sit on their money -- or invest overseas. We will continue to be at their mercy, and they can continue to ruin the country.

If we do rescind their tax cuts and perhaps increase their tax rates, the government can use the money to wake up the economy, encourage people to work and improve the living standards of millions of people. The rich will decide to invest so that they can make money in the resulting improved economy.

The greedy rich are doing the United States in.

A whole generation of young people, especially college graduates, cannot get appropriate jobs. They cannot even learn how to work. Immigrants do all the jobs that kids used to do -- like work in fast food places, restaurants, etc. The idle rich are destroying the entire country. Sorry, but each of us has a responsibility. Each of us must contribute in his or her own way. Wealth only exists when it is being used. The wealthy are not using their wealth at this time. Therefore they will lose it. That is the nature of property.

Use it or lose it.

Part time, minimum wage jobs with no benefits, and we expect you to do the work of two people and you have to be young and of the "correct" skin color. Also you have to enjoy toeing the corporate line and eschew union membership.

If you get out of line we'll fire you because, hey, people are desperate in these trying economic times and are only kept from being paid below minimum wage because the government might have something to say about it. We are working on getting those minimum wage laws repealed, though, because people should be able to constitutionally choose to work for peanuts.
