elect a democrat in florida stop helping crist
Edited on Wed Jul-14-10 10:32 AM by SwampG8r
we have a pre primary situation here in florida
we have more than on dem candidate running
meek from south florida a representative in congress
kevin burns who is an openly gay former mayor of miami
and jeff greene a west palm beach billionaire

all three are democrats and all are trying for the nomination
why are DU posters allowed to post in favor of crist when 3 count em 3 democrats are in the race at this time?
why are people allowed to advocate for a former(?)republican?
crist only wins if he takes dem votes
dem votes voted to dems will elect a dem
crist pulls voters from the GOP weakening rubio
the advocacy of a single democratic vote going to crist is an advocacy against any of these 3 democratic candidates winning

i am more ashamed of the rationalizations that will be posted here about voting for crist.
its easy for all of you not in florida to cheapshot us and we constantly are
and we deserve it usually
but if YOU are going around and working against OUR dem candidates for office then you need to face your share of the blame for our fuckedupedness
when i vote i will pull the lever marked (d) that stands for democratic party
charlie crist can go blow a goat

rant off
edited to change the title after i read it it sounded like a call out and its not

If one is not allowed to advocate for Greens who are left leaning I see no bloody reason why rooting for a right leaning third party candidate should be allowed.

The hypocrisy is stunning and obvious.

4. don't post much
I have been a lurker on du since 2000. Don't post much...only created an account a short time ago.

The op is scary. What's this about advocating that people not be "allowed" to post certain things?

Why not make your case against crist supporters? I suppose you believe it to be easier to shut down debate than to have to make your case.

52. Crist is no conservative
He's 'pragmatic', he's an opportunist, but he's no conservative, in fact, he's not liberal, he's what ever he thinks will get him elected. :smoke:

Though, I agree with you, he will siphon off more D votes than R votes, especially up here in the sticks.

facts and information he will adjust his position. Meek has run a weak, meek campaign, never heard of the other contender, and Greene? I sure as hell am not about to trust a West Palm Beach Billionaire repug "turned" Dem to represent me!

26. Crist IS a conservative Republican
He only stopped calling himself one because he lost his own primary to a teabagger.

Sort of the bizarro world equivalent of what Lieberdouche did. Except Joe wasn't actually a Democrat before or after he stopped calling himself one. Charlie, on the other hand, still refers to himself as a "common sense conservative".

He is not a Democrat by any definition.

Edited on Wed Jul-14-10 11:51 AM by Jefferson23
More important than who supports the Dems here on DU I think would be worthwhile to understand what kind of support
are the Dems getting from Floridians? I ask because I honestly don't know.

The one thing I recall about Crist vs Meek was that Crist vetoed the Florida teacher pay bill while Meek I believe
did not do much to speak out against it at the time.

It appears that Crist positioned himself very well to garner support from Democrats away from Meek, perhaps a lackluster
candidate. The other Democrats running, I know very little about, who do you think is the strongest candidate for Democrats
to get behind?

on edit for clarity.

in florida we have a strange electorate
the northern part of the state is very southern and will not vote for a black man of either party
the center of the state is politically right and the sothern end is very dem
if crist pulls 29% of the gop vote then he makes it easy for a REAL dem to win without crossover voting
now is the time for unity behind a dem

http://leaveittogreene.com/microsite/claims

BTW, Crist has always been a moderate and has been moving more and more left every since he shed his R. I think Crist is a "closet" liberal and will be a more reliable vote on liberal issues than many Dems now in the Senate. Not sure what Greene the billionaire would do.

The I-4 corridor where Grayson's district is located, is known as one of the most "swingy" parts of the nation. lots of national whistle-stops come thru here b/c of that.

Sometimes you have to take the loss and let the crap hit the fan. If Rubio wins and he screws things up then that will be the end of him for good. He will discredit his party and cause people to look elsewhere for leadership and we won't have to keep settling for the lesser evil.
