The issue is not about whether somebody "deserved" the comment. He's not the arbiter of who does or does not "deserve" the comment. It's and offensive stupid comment that would not be "deserved" by anybody.

The apology is an actual apology, not one of the "sorry if you were offended" variety. And while it would be best to apologize in the same manner and similar forum in which the original insult was made, I'm sure that Ms. Maddow will accept the apology with a good grace, because she's far classier than I.
