Governor Sends Tornado Appeal To President (Strickland/OH)

COLUMBUS, Ohio --

A second and final letter of appeal has been issued from Governor Ted Strickland’s office asking President Obama for federal disaster assistance for tornado-damaged areas of northwest Ohio.

The appeal is for both public and individual assistance.

Governor Strickland declared a state of emergency for three counties in northwest Ohio after tornadoes swept through the region on June 5 and 6, causing extensive property damage and resulting in the deaths of six people.

FEMA denied an original request for disaster assistance... The appeal sent Friday is in response to the denial.

“We have worked together for nearly two months to assist as much as possible in the recovery efforts, but we know that the financial assistance required to deal with the impact of these storms is beyond what the state alone can provide,” the Governor says in his letter.

...but then again look how long they blindly held onto Bob Taft. I truly think our biggest race in Ohio besides the Governor's Race is the US Senate Race Where Unfortunately Lt Gov Lee Fisher is our Candidate as opposed to SOS Brunner who is vacating her position as SOS making it a wide open race so if the Republicans win the SOS race we might as well forget having a fair election in 2012 here in Ohio. Also the Attorney General Race is Vital because if fmr US Senator Mike Dewine wins, who is challenging our wonderful incumbent Richard Cordray, Mr Dewine has promised to waste millions in tax dollars to join the frivouls Health Care Bill Lawsuit Yet When I Confronted him about it last week at a suprise campaign stop at my school he didn't want to discuss Healthcare because he knows Dayton is a poor area that would benefit greatly from HCR. He also refused to answer my question as to why he refused to debate AG Richard Cordray in two seperate debates about the Constitutionality of the Health Care Bill.
